Students must set up a Microsoft Live account and a Yammer account BEFORE the event. Teachers should assist students in setting up these accounts and installing the Yammer application on their smartphone. For instructions on setting up these accounts and installing the app, please refer to the following links:
In order to prepare for the program all students and teachers are required to take the Yammer Essentials Course located on Microsoft Academy Live here: Yammer Essentials Course
This course is approximately 30 minutes long. It can be assigned as homework with a follow up class discussion to ensure every student understands how to utilize this collaboration tool. Doing this will ensure every student has a great experience during Discovery Day and understands how to stay connect within the community post the program.
For teachers interested in becoming a community manager for your students so that you can setup all of your students in advance please request community management by sending and email to YammerAdmin@we-connect-the-dots.org
To ensure teachers, and chaperones for the program have a clear understanding of the day we will hold two conference calls. One member from each school participating is required to attend one of these calls. We have setup two times to help with scheduling and participation.
